Panpu Permanent Magnet Motor + VFD Control Cabinet Case Study | Secondary Water Supply Pump Station | Constant Pressure Linkage Energy-Saving Retrofit for Water Pump Units
The city's secondary water supply pumping station originally operated its frequency-based pump groups at full capacity, causing significant pressure fluctuations in the distribution network and high energy consumption per ton of water. This resulted in poor user experience for residents. The project upgraded the station with permanent magnet synchronous motors and a variable-frequency control cabinet that automatically adjusts pump speed and the number of active units based on real-time water demand. This enables precise constant-pressure water supply and on-demand delivery. After retrofitting, pressure fluctuations in the network were significantly reduced, mechanical wear on the pumps decreased, and energy consumption per ton of water dropped effectively. Additionally, the need for manual inspections and equipment maintenance costs were reduced.

KEY METRICS
Reduced fluctuations in pipeline pressure and effective decrease in pump group energy consumption.
Data Scope and Validation Source: The above metrics are derived from on-site measurements under identical operating conditions before and after the retrofit (comparing energy meter readings with equipment operation logs). The statistical period covers 30 consecutive days of full operation post-retrofit. Motor energy efficiency ratings follow GB 18613-2020 and IEC 60034-30-1, while product efficiency values are cited from the manufacturer's factory test reports. Actual results may vary based on load rate, annual operating hours, and specific operating conditions.

Water Conservation
Water utility energy efficiency retrofit
Variable-frequency linked control and permanent magnet motor solution for water supply and sewage treatment, adjusting flow and pressure on demand to reduce energy consumption per ton of water.

SRM Drive Retrofit
Energy-saving retrofit of switched reluctance motor speed control system
Replace the existing asynchronous motor + VFD/electromagnetic drive system with the Panpu SRM series Switched Reluctance Motor Drive (SRD). Designed for underloaded ("big horse pulling small cart") and heavy-load frequent start-stop conditions, it matches motor output to actual load requirements. Overall efficiency exceeds that of AC asynchronous motor VFD systems by more than 3%, and in low-speed conditions, by over 10%. Typical energy savings range from 10% to 50%.
