Wolong High-Voltage VFD Case Study | Middle East AL-WAHA Oilfield Project | 3700kW Injection Pump Variable Frequency Drive

Project: Middle East AL-WAHA Oilfield Phase II HVC Location: Middle East Commissioning Date: 2012 Year 7 Month Equipment Configuration: 3700 kW × 1 Units Load Type: Injection Water Pumps The same platform products were also used for the AL-WAHA Oilfield Phase I (2010 Year 12 Month, 2300kW×2 Fans) and Phase III (2014 Year 3 Month, 2240kW Pumps). Injection water pumps require stable pressure and continuous operation. The high-voltage variable frequency drive adjusts pump speed to match water injection demand, reducing backflow and throttling losses. This platform supports soft starting, multi-pump coordinated control, and constant-pressure network management for pump loads, minimizing water hammer effects and mechanical wear. Project Value: Continuous adoption across multiple oilfield phases; stable water injection system pressure; reduced mechanical wear on pump units.

Variable frequency drive operation ensures stable performance for water injection pumps, reduces pipeline pressure fluctuations, and supports long-term continuous operation of the oilfield water injection system.

Data Scope and Validation Source: The above metrics are derived from on-site measurements under identical operating conditions before and after the retrofit (comparing energy meter readings with equipment operation logs). The statistical period covers 30 consecutive days of full operation post-retrofit. Motor energy efficiency ratings follow GB 18613-2020 and IEC 60034-30-1, while product efficiency values are cited from the manufacturer's factory test reports. Actual results may vary based on load rate, annual operating hours, and specific operating conditions.
